The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has great pleasure to invite our members to a site visit at the New Lynn Rail Trench (DART6), Auckland.

The New Lynn Rail Trench (DART 6) is a $150+ million project (funded by ONTRACK, Waitakere City Council and Auckland Regional Transport Authority) to place the rail track within a 1km trench and build several bridges over allowing more efficient movement of trains and cars.  The project features extensive diaphragm walling, tension piling and H piling.  Over 90,000 cubic metres of earth was removed to build the trench.  The project is due for completion August/September 2010, when trains will travel in 2 directions along the Western line of Auckland.
