EPA
CIOB have recently introduced a new route to Chartered membership called the ‘EPA’.
Chartered status (MCIOB) via the EPA route is open to mature construction practitioners who may not have gained exempting academic qualification but can offer at least 5 years management experience in the construction industry. The primary objective of the course is to prepare candidates for EPA assessments (both assignments and examinations). The Professional Review takes place after successful completion of the EPA. The Experienced Practitioner Route must be completed within three years.
In brief, below is an overview of the three stages of the EPA:
Part A
Forward Initial assessment application (attached) via email to examenquiry@ciob.org.uk If successful an applicant is offered Associate (ACIOB) or Incorporate (ICIOB) membership.
Cost: membership subscription fee for 2008: $330aud
Part B
4 x Learning Modules
Construction Technology - 2 written assignments
Health, Safety & the Environment - 2 written assignments
Management - Single 3 hour examination
Contract & Commercial Practice (CCP) - Single 3 hour examination
Distance learning mirrors the ‘taught’ courses with full learning packs plus guidance notes mailed or emailed on a fortnightly basis with additional tutorial support.
The modules of Construction Technology and Health Safety & Environment will be assessed by two substantive coursework assignments of not more than 2000 words. The modules of Management and Contract & Commercial Practice will be assessed by separate 3 hours examinations relating to written assignments.
Cost: £90 / $200aud per module + course provider fees
Part C
Professional Review (as undertaken by all those wishing to attain Chartered Status).
Undertake professional review, technical assessment and interview.
If successful at interview you are granted Chartered Status (MCIOB).
